Catalogtree (NL)
Joris Maltha and Daniel Gross met during their studies in Workplace Typography in Arnhem, and founded Catalogtree in 2001. Their work includes applied designs as well as autonomous projects. Both are fascinated by tables and figures, and in their work they process this raw and complex data into understandable visual information that tells a story about everyday life. They often use special ways of organising this data, and frequently give the work a scientific perspective. They studied the parking behaviour of diplomats in New York, for instance, and laid bare the entire highway between Arnhem and Nijmegen in a striking poster series which showed how fast cars were travelling when the majority of accidents happened, when and where the biggest traffic jam occurred, and so on. Both Maltha and Gross teach interactive design at the academy in Arnhem. Catalogtree makes magazines, books and websites.
A-Z lectures take place on Tuesday at Zebrazaal at Z33.
Entrance is free, but registration is required.
