Manon Van Kouswijk graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1995 and has been Head of the Jewellery Design Department there since 2007. The fact that she follows in the footsteps of Ruudt Peeters and Iris Eichenberg in leading this renowned jewellery atelier says much, if not all, about her place in the international world of jewellery. As a jewellery designer, Manon looks for the value and meaning attributed to everyday objects. Archetypal objects, such as the classic string of pearls or a silver spoon, often form the point of departure for her designs. These universal objects are reinterpreted in terms of content, material or shape, resulting in unique designs or functional design objects.
